Welcome to Hauterives

"Overlooking the city of HAUTERIVES"

Nestled in the heart of the valley of the Galaure, the village of Hauterives is built on the terrace of the right bank, raised above the river. In the Middle Ages, the village was fortified, its walls pierced with four doors; one remaining north-east. In the 17th century, the lord of Hauterives, rather than restore the old feudal castle, preferred to build a new house on the left bank of the Galaure, facing the village. It serves as a backdrop for summer exhibitions of quality. Before the north side, we can shelter in the shade of a beautiful cedar. Its peak exceeds 35 metres and the circumference of its trunk reached 7.65 metres.

"The Ideal Palais of Factor Cheval"

Hauterives has mainly fame at the Ideal Palais of Factor Cheval. Independent of all artistic and not covered by a technical architecture, the Ideal Palais is an example of architecture naive. This original construction is a work out of time, out of standards. Défendu ardently by André Malraux, the Ideal Palais was classified a historical monument in 1969. He is regarded today as a global benchmark of art brut. He welcomes every year more than 120,000 visitors, including a high proportion of foreigners.

Ranked Green station, the municipality of Hauterives offers a quiet environment, in a rural setting but dynamic.
